Reconsolidation Month draws to a close

IMPHAL, Jan 9 : Commemorating the 192nd death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh, United Peoples' Front's observance of National Reconsolidation Month came to a close today at Gambhir Singh Memorial Complex, Langthabal.
To mark the occasion, a procession was taken out from Manipur College, Pishumthong to Langthabal, where floral tributes were offered at the final resting place of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and a public congregation was also held.
The procession witnessed the participation of different groups- those on horseback donning the "Lanphi" (combat uniform), Thang-Ta party, band with Pena and Langden drum players, CSO leaders and the public.
The ceremony was graced by Nongthombam Rupachandra, president, UPF; YK Dhiren, president, UCM; Somorendro Thokchom, president, LIPUL; Jeetendra Ningomba, president, CCSK; Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar Khuman, president, HERICOUN and L Malangba Meitei, president, AMSU as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Nongthombam Rupachandra shared that observance of the National Reconsolidation Month was kicked off on December 9, 2025 with a procession from Kangla under the theme 'Eikhoi Amuk Hanna Khuntaklaroisi'.
During the month-long observance, discussion sessions, poster campaigns, two-wheeler rally and meetings with Meitei diaspora in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura were held.
A similar event was also conducted at Awapali Khubam in Kamranga, Cachar today.
Additionally, Maharaj Gambhir Singh Memorial Committee, Chandrapur  observed the 192nd death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh at Manipur Levy Ground, Chandrapur.
