Ruling MLAs invited to Delhi on Feb 2

IMPHAL, Jan 31: BJP Central leaders have invited all the ruling MLAs of the State to New Delhi for a meeting on February 2, 2026 regarding formation of a popular Government .
The invitation made through the BJP Manipur Pradesh president and personally to the MLAs asked all BJP, NPP and NPF MLAs to come to New Delhi on February 2.
On the other hand, Manipur Budget for 2026-27 may be tabled in the Lok Sabha on March 10, 2026 and the Rajya Sabha on March 12, 2026 in case no popular Government is installed in the State till then.
According to two separate bulletins issued by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, there may be a general discussion on the Manipur Budget for 2026-27 as well as discussion and voting on Demands for Grants for 2026-27 on March 10 in the Lok Sabha and March 12 in the Rajya Sabha in case the State Assembly remains under animated suspension or is dissolved by then.
Manipur Legislative Assembly was placed under animated suspension and the State was brought under President’s Rule on February 13, 2025 following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren on February 9.
The President’s Rule initially imposed for a term of six months was extended for another six months from August 13, 2025.
With the President’s Rule set to complete one full year on February 12, 2026, spe-culations are rife about the formation of a new popular Government in Manipur in the coming week.
Moreover, Union Commerce and Industries Min- ister Piyush Goel may visit the State on February 4 or 5 and may attend a programme at Lok Bhavan, said the sources.
Incidentally, the next general election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly is due in 2027.
