IMPHAL, Feb 2 : The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has expressed its gratitude to all individuals who participated in the Manipur Kanba Khongchat and to the organisations that supported the rally.
In a press statement issued by its IPR sub-com- mittee convenor, Phijam Shyamchand, COCOMI stated that the rally, which saw the participation of over one lakh people, including students, internally displaced persons (IDPs), local clubs, bazar communities, Meira Paibis, street vendors, and hill and valley organizations, conveyed a clear message to the Government of India about the stance of the people of Manipur.
The committee also expressed its gratitude to the print and electronic media, transport societies, the Indian Red Cross Society, security personnel, tent houses, DMU, various hospitals and clinics, and ambulance service providers who supported the rally.
Additionally, COCOMI extended special thanks to the individuals who took the initiative to clean up and collect garbage along the rally route after the event.
The committee stated that the people of Manipur have become aware of the alleged narrow political tactics being employed by the Government of India to prolong the crisis in the State by supporting Kuki narco-terrorists who seek to disintegrate Manipur.
COCOMI further noted that the crisis has persisted for over 32 months and accused the Government of suppressing the fundamental rights of the people for an extended period.
Saying that the rally was a resounding success, COCOMI appealed to everyone to support future initiatives undertaken by the committee.
