India reach quad event semifinals at AICHI–NAGOYA 2026 Test Event

India marched into the semifinals of the Sepaktakraw Quad Event at the AICHI–NAGOYA 2026 Games Test Event in Nagoya, Japan, after delivering confident performances against Malaysia and Korea.
The Indian side edged past Malaysia 2–1, winning the first set 15–12 before dropping the second 10–15 and bouncing back strongly to clinch the decider 15–10.
India then followed up with a straight-set 2–0 victory over Korea, taking the sets 15–10 and 15–12.
With these results, India booked a semifinal clash against Thailand, scheduled for tomorrow morning at 5.30 am IST.
The Indian quad team features S Malemnganba of Manipur and Y Akash, a Manipur native representing SSB, along with Boby (Bihar), Arun (Delhi), Sandeep Kumar (Delhi) and Ramkumar (Delhi).
The contingent are led by Naresh Kumar, secretary general of the Sepaktakraw Federation of India, with Hemraj guiding the team as chief coach. The team left New Delhi on January 30 and is scheduled to return on February 3, 2026.
On behalf of the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association (AMSTA) general secretary Ch Geskant conveyed his best wishes to team India for the upcoming semifinal, saying the team’s strong performances so far had raised hopes back home.
He expressed confidence that the players would carry their momentum into the next match and continue to make the country proud on the international stage. Agencies
