IMPHAL, Feb 9 : Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Lourembam Nganbi has expressed faith in the new State Government to understand public sentiment and work sincerely on bringing normalcy in the State.
She made the remark at the 1st State level painting competition organised by Naharol Sintha Kanglup (NSK), Wangkhei today at NSK Community Hall, Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi.
The competition was themed around four topics- the alleged proxy war in Manipur, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), dignity and justice for all standing against atrocities and visualizing a better future for Manipur.
It was conducted across two categories- Class V to VIII and Class IX to XII.
The winners were presented with certificates, mementos and cash prizes.
Inaugurating the painting competition, L Nganbi praised the initiative as it seeks to raise awareness among the youth about the current situation in the State.
She recalled the repeated imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, including the most recent one, which lasted for almost a year.
These PR impositions were a result of incompetence by the people's representatives- MLAs and Ministers.
On another note, it is a well-known fact that the Indian Government has implemented the "Divide and Rule" policy amongst different communities in Manipur, she alleged.
It has continued to drive wedges and incite hatred between groups of people.
But the reinstatement of a "popular Government" is very fortunate for the people, she said.
It has the responsibility to bring peace and initiate developmental measures in the strife-torn State.
She expressed hope and belief in the new Government to perform its duties and strive to bring normalcy in Manipur.
Mayengbam Sanatomba, president, NSK and representatives of Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi Nupi Marup were also present at the event.
