IMPHAL, Feb 10 : The State Government has suspended internet and data services in Lhungtin Sub Division of Kangpokpi, Phungyar Sub Division of Kamjong and across Ukhrul district for five days, in view of the volatile law and order situation in the adjoining areas of the three districts and in Litan in particular.
An order to this effect was issued by Commissioner cum Secretary (Home) N Ashok Kumar.
The shutdown which came into effect from today covers mobile data, broadband, VPN and VSAT services.
In an official order, the Government said "there is apprehension that some anti-social elements might use social media extensively for transmission of images, posts and video messages inciting the passions of the public which might have serious repercussions on the law and order situation in the State."
