IMPHAL, Feb 10: Deeply disturbed by the violent clashes at Litan in Ukhrul district that has seen over 50 houses burnt down since Sunday night, All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has urged members of both Naga and Kuki communities to exercise restraint and take up collective responsibility to foster peace.
AMCO, as an apex Christian body committed to the spiritual and social well-being of the people, is deeply concerned over the violence in Litan village which has resulted in casualties, destruction of homes and properties, and renewed fear among communities, it said in a statement.
AMCO appealed for an immediate end to all hostilities, and expressed solidarity with all communities, and families whose homes and properties have been destroyed.
It called for compassion, restraint, and collective responsibility towards pur- suing a peaceful resolution through  dialogue, reconciliation, and mutual under- standing.
"Our land, Sana Leibak Manipur, has already endured immense suffering. Communities  have borne the brunt of destruction, displacement, and the loss of precious lives. Renewed  conflict will only deepen those wounds and prolong our collective pain," AMCO said.
As an apex Christian organization cutting across all communities and denominations, AMCO strongly condemns every form of violence, retaliation, and hate speech that deepens division and  prolongs suffering, it said.
It urged all stakeholders, community leaders, CSOs, religious leaders, and the media, to refrain from making or propagating any inflammatory statements, rumours, or actions that may escalate tension.
"We believe sincere dialogue and cooperation are the only sustainable ways to restore trust and rebuild harmony in our land," AMCO said, while urging the authorities concerned to continue working diligently to restore law and order, and ensure the safety of all citizens. It further urged the authorities concerned to facilitate relief and rehabilitation of the affected  families. "In this time of grief and uncertainty, we encourage all people of faith to unite in prayer for  healing and restoration... May the Almighty God bestow upon us His divine wisdom and a heart of forgiveness, bridging our divisions to restore unity and harmony across Manipur," AMCO wished.
