YPA, SWC bag ASMITA Sepaktakraw League titles

IMPHAL, Feb 12: YPA and SWC have emerged champions of the ASMITA Sepaktakraw League 2025-26 in the mini girls and sub-junior girls category respectively.
Held at the SWC community hall, Hiyanglam Makha Lekai, the league was organised by the Kakching District Sepaktakraw Association.
The league commenced on February 10.
In the mini girls' final, YPA defeated Lotus in a competitive three-set match. After conceding the first set 12-15, YPA rallied to win the next two sets 15-07 and 15-08 to claim the title.
In the sub-junior girls final, SWC secured a straight-set victory over Lotus, winning 16-09 and 15-12 to lift the championship trophy.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the league, W Jiten, president of the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association, lauded the organisers for successfully conducting the league and encouraging greater participation of girls in the sport.
He emphasised that grassroots tournaments such as the ASMITA League play a crucial role in identifying young talent and strengthening Manipur's position in sepaktakraw at the National level.
He also encouraged players to remain disciplined and continue rigorous training to achieve higher milestones.
E Rajen, former Pradhan of Hiyanglam Gram Panchayat, Ksh Dharmadas, president of the Kakching District Olympic Association; Ng Sunita Chanu, District Youth Affairs & Sports Officer, Kakching, Th Munidro, advisor to the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association; AK Prem, president of the Thoubal District Sepaktakraw Association, and E Janaranjan, president of the Kakching District Sepaktakraw Association attended the closing ceremony.
