IMPHAL, Feb 14: The Eramdam Kanba Lup (EKAL) has extended relief materials to the people currently taking refuge in a relief camp at Yaingangpokpi.
The relief materials donated by EKAL to the Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation were contributed by the people living under Uyumpok Gram Panchayat.
Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation distributed the relief materials including rice, potato, onion, cooking oil, salt, drinking water and vegetables at Yaingnang-pokpi relief camp today.
Expressing gratitude to EKAL for the relief materials, Tangkhul Naga Foot- hills Organisation president Turner Raihing said that they will never forget the gesture of solidarity shown by the people of Uyumpok.
EKAL advisor Ningthou-khongjam Sanatomba said that many people could not go home following the violence and arson at Litan and they were forced to take refuge at different places.
Considering their plight, a relief camp has been opened for them at Yaingangpokpi, Sanatomba said.
Even though the people of Uyumpok have been suffering a lot because of the Kuki aggression, each and every household contributed whatever they could to help the stranded people, he added.
