Col CK Nayudu Trophy Manipur end campaign with 8-wicket loss to Mizoram

IMPHAL, Feb 1 : Manipur ended their Col CK Nayudu Trophy Plate Group campaign with an 8-wicket loss to Mizoram today at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium, Nadiad in Gujarat.
Resuming their second innings from the overnight score of 32/3 in 12.5 overs, Manipur collapsed at 189 in 53.5 overs and gave Mizoram a target of 50 runs. Mizoram then cruised to the winning 53/2 in 9.5 overs to seal the 8-wicket win within 3 days.
Hussain who was unbeaten on 21 till yesterday could add only 1 run before he departed on run out in the 15th over this morning before Jotin Pheiroijam was undone by Johan for the 5th wicket in the 18th over as the scoreboard read 41.
Ph Jodash who came in at number 5 and skipper Sanjit who came in for Jotin steadied the innings by adding 82 runs off 112 runs but their partnership ended with K Vanrotlinaga bowling out Sanjit on 28.
Vanrotlinga then removed Vivekananda 10 for the 7th wicket to pile further pressure on Manipur before Jodash who managed his half century with Sanjit, too fell on 77 for the 8th wicket in the 52nd over.
Vanrotlinga then completed his fifer (5/49 in 20 overs) by removing Ringku Kangujam 5 for the 9th wicket before Kalyan was caught behind on 28 for the final wicket in the fifth delivery of the 54th over by Johan (2/47) when Manipur was leading by just 49 runs.
 Nasib (1/11) and Duata (1/18) also picked a wicket apiece in this innings before Karan 23 not out and Nasib 15 not out off 11 finished off chasing the target of 50 runs.
For Manipur, Suson (1/17) and Kalyan (1/18) grabbed a wicket apiece in a lost cause.
Notably, Manipur had posted 213 runs in the first innings before Mizoram scored 353 runs in 102.3 overs on the back of major knocks Nasib 101 and Tetea 88 to take a 140-run first innings lead till yesterday.
