Financial assistance extended to IDPs

BPR/CCpur/JIRI/KAK/THB, Feb 19 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, the recently reinstalled State Government has provided financial benefits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in different relief camps across Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Jiribam, Kakching and Thoubal district today.
A one time assistance of Rs 2,420 was given to each IDP through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to purchase beddings/mattresses and other essential items.
BISHNUPUR
Minister Govindas Konthoujam, along with Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam and other District Level Officers (DLOs), distributed benefits to IDPs at Mangolnganbi Relief Camp, Ningthoukhong.
At the event, the Minister informed that, as previously assured by the Government, Rs 1 lakh will be provided to every IDP household. Of this, Rs 25,000 has already been distributed in the first phase. From the remaining Rs 75,000, an amount of Rs 20,000 will now be disbursed through DBT starting today.
In her keynote address, DC Pooja Elangbam clarified that the Rs 2,420 credited through DBT is being provided as additional special support to all IDPs.
During the interactive session, IDPs raised concerns related to health, livelihood opportunities, and income enhancement.
The benefit distribution was also held at 6 other relief camps of the district, namely, Utlou Sajor Loukol Prefabricated House, Utlou; Thambalmarik College Relief Camp, Oinam; Moirang College Block A Relief Camp, Moirang; Moirangkhunou Mamang Sabal Mandop Relief Camp; Tourist Resort Block A & B, Sendra Road and Wangoo Higher Secondary School, Wangoo parking.
Churachandpur
During the distribution of benefits held at Sadbhavna Mandap, Khominthang, two IDPs- Biakkim and Niangngaihlun- interacted with the Chief Minister via video conference.
They expressed satisfaction with the relief centre's management and requested timely monthly DBT deposits.
Churachandpur AC MLA LM Khaute also joined the interaction virtually, while Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, IAS, and SDO Churachandpur Anunay Anand, IAS were present at the program.
In another program at Sadbhavna Mandap, Tuibong, MLA Paolienlal Haokip of Saikot AC, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrobul Fimate and SDO Jangminlen Lupho, oversaw the distribution. Essential items such as mattresses, blankets, torchlights, infant formula, and chocolates were also distributed to the IDPs.
At Torbung Prefabricated Relief Centre, Letzamang Haokip, MLA, Henglep AC; Seiminthang Lenthang, ADM Churachandpur, and Mangminthang Gangte, SDO Kangvai attended the event.
Meanwhile, at St Joseph’s Relief Camp, Singngat, MLA Chinlunthang of Singhat AC; SDO Samuel T Lhungdim, and other officials distributed DBT benefits to IDPs.
However, due to poor internet connectivity, the inmates were unable to interact with the Chief Minister.
Lactating and expecting mothers received infant formula, persons with disabilities were provided with torchlights, and senior citizens were gifted vacuum flasks.
JIRIBAM
In Jiribam, the distribution of financial assistance was held at Bidyanagar  Multipurpose Sports Complex Relief Camp at 11 am.
The event was attended by Jiribam AC MLA Md Achab Uddin, Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar (IAS) and Addl SP, SDO, SDC, CMO, ZEO, DFOs and other officials.
KAKCHING
Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar along with Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya (IAS) distributed financial assistance to IDPs at the SC/ST Hostel of Kha Manipur College, Kakching district today.
A total of 45 IDPs received the assistance and symbolic dummy cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries. The MLA and the DC later interacted with the inmates, enquiring about their well-being and other additional requirements.
At a similar event,  financial assistance was extended to 97 IDPs residing at Yangbi Girls School Wabagai Relief Camp, Sanatombi High School Keirak Relief Camp and Indoor Stadium Kakching Relief Camp by Dr Usham Deben, MLA of Wabagai AC.
The benefits distribution programme was also conducted at Elangkhangpokpi Relief Camp under the leadership of Dr Yumnam Radheshyam, MLA of Hiyanglam AC. A total of 30 IDPs attended the programme.
In addition, a sum of Rs 20,000 each was handed over to two selected beneficiaries for the reconstruction of their houses.
THOUBAL
As conducted in other districts, Thoubal District Administration also distributed financial assistance at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex today which benefited 965 IDPs.
Notable attendees include Wangjing-Tentha AC MLA Paonam Brojen; Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surjakumar; Deputy Commissioner Thoubal  Yumnam Robita (IAS) and ADM Thoubal Aribam Amarjit Sharma.
At the event, MLA Paonam Brojen said many changes are now visible in Manipur with the installation of a new Government. He exuded confidence that free movement will be possible in many "restricted routes" soon.
More positive changes will be seen after Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand's upcoming Delhi visit. The hardships faced by IDPs will also be considerably reduced, he maintained.
Meanwhile, MLA Okram Surjakumar expressed readiness to assist the State Government's efforts towards "free movement" and welfare of IDPs. He further shared that a proposal has been submitted to the concerned authority to grant Rs 25,000 to IDPs whose homes were completely burnt in the conflict.
Later, the IDPs interacted with the MLAs and Government officials bringing their grievances into focus.
