Addl CS inspects multi level parking, ISBT

Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport & TCI) inspected the readiness of the first multi-level-parking facility of Imphal being constructed at Nagamapal, basement parking of Ema Keithel and a suitable site for E-rickshaw parking near Ema Keithel-1 today.
The Additional Chief Secretary was accompanied by Kh Diana, Director (Transport); Chiphang Cece-lia Sopemia (SP/Traffic); Biswajeet Singh, Dy SP (Traffic), Joint Director (Transport) Huidrom Samson and Harikumar, CEO (Smart City).
The CEO (Smart City) demonstrated operations of the multi-level-parking.
Anurag Bajpai enquired about the capacity of the multi-level parking for four-wheelers and two-wheelers, its power backup, maintenance provisions and time needed for its completion.
He directed the CEO to complete the remaining works, put proper signages for information to the public and make it ready for inauguration by the end of March, 2026.
He also advised the CEO to build a waiting shed for the public who park vehicles at the  multi-level-parking.
The Additional Chief Secretary also directed the CEO to submit a feasibility report of another site identified for a second multi-level-parking at Nagamapal immediately.
Anurag Bajpai then inspected the basement parking of Ema Keithel-1.
It was found closed and its outer space used by unknown persons/vendors for keeping their articles.
The CEO, Smart City was directed to get the basement parking opened, cleaned, properly lit with systems in place for its operationalisation from the end of March, 2026.
The Additional Chief Secretary and the officials also inspected a suitable site for E-rickshaw parking at Nagamapal near Ema Keithel-1.
He advised the Director, Transport and the SP (Traffic) to develop the proposal immediately in order to decongest the area.
Anurag Bajpai then inspected the operations at ISBT which were restarted from January 22, 2026 with its recommissioning.
He conveyed his satisfaction on seeing the ISBT being used for its purpose by the common people to board inter-State and intra-State buses and wingers.
People are not only using buses and wingers for their movement, but also for transportation of luggage etc.
He inspected the entire premises including the functional toilet and the water supply therein.
He advised the Sweepers’ Association positioned there to keep the premises clean and free of plastic bottles.
The Additional Chief Secretary advised DTO, Imphal East and DTO Imphal West to move frequently with the interceptor vehicles in their jurisdiction and regulate violation of traffic laws.
He suggested the Director (Transport) carry out a special drive with Traffic Police against traffic rule violators.
