MPDF observes 2nd foundation day at Salungpham

Thoubal, Feb 19: The Manipur People’s Development Foundation (MPDF) celebrated its 2nd Foundation Day on Wednesday at Salungpham Mamang Ching in Thoubal district, with a call to strengthen youth empowerment, work culture and self-reliance.
The programme was attended by MPDF advisor Th. Manihar; MPDF president Pebam Bishambor; Dr K Indrakumar Singh of the Department of Political Science, Dhanamanjuri University; and Ima Keithel president Memma Devi as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, MPDF general secretary Arunjit Ninthouja said the organisation was formed with the objective of nurturing a healthy and disciplined youth population rooted in a strong work culture. He stated that MPDF aims to protect the motherland, encourage youths to stay away from drugs, and build a self-sustainable society by instilling dedication and responsibility among young people.
Advisor Th Manihar said it is time to distinguish between “real friends and real enemies” and urged indigenous communities of the state to unite and collectively safeguard their interests. He added that MPDF was founded on the trust of the people to unite youths, help them become responsible and successful individuals, and foster a spirit of hard work and unity.
Emphasising economic self-reliance, he noted that true sustainability would come when the state is capable of producing and exporting its own goods without dependency on others. He called upon the people to build a hardworking and self-sufficient community.
The event was also attended by MPDF leaders, representatives of various student organisations, Meira Paibis, village leaders and the chief of Maryland village, who was presented with simple gifts on the occasion.
