IMPHAL, Feb 20: The 8th edition of the Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2026 will be held on April 7, 2026 at Imphal.
A decision to this effect was adopted at a joint meeting of Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) and its affiliated bodies (TSA, TCI, TAS, THRA, TEA, and others) held on February 19, 2026.
A dedicated organising committee has been constituted with Nehkholal Thadou as chairman, Jamkholun Thadou as vice chairman and Michael Lamjathang Thadou as secretary-cum-treasurer.
The festival will be held at Imphal but the exact venue will be determined by the organising committee, said a press release issued by TIM president M James Thadou.
The official theme for the 2026 edition continues to be “My Culture, My Identity” with the sub-theme “Upholding Our Identity, Shaping Our Destiny”, it said.
This year marks the joyful return of the festival to its home soil in Manipur after a two-year absence - 2024 observed in Delhi & 2025 observed in Guwahati (owing to the prevailing circumstances).
The homecoming to Imphal, Manipur symbolises renewed hope, divine blessings, and a stronger affirmation of the Thadou community's indigenous identity within Manipur, it said.
In this spirit, TIM has appealed to all communities across Manipur to extend their generous support, participation, and cooperation to make the Imphal edition a grand and memorable success.
The Hun–Thadou Cultural Festival commemorates the sacred Hun season—a time of profound thanksgiving for the germination and sprouting of seeds sowed, coupled with heartfelt prayers for a plentiful harvest.
It is a vibrant celebration of renewal, unity, gratitude, and optimism for the days ahead, it said.
Notably, Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival has been officially declared a State holiday (restricted) in Manipur and it is celebrated annually on April 7.
