Imphal, Feb 20 : The Korean Literature Festival Imphal 2026 is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Harvest Cafe, Imphal.
Part of the India Literary Tour (Indo-Korean Edition), the festival aims to foster literary dialogue between South Korea and Northeast India by bringing together leading Korean authors and local writers, scholars, and cultural practitioners for a full day of readings and conversations.
Organised by Ukiyo Bookstore in collaboration with Ink & Quill Collective and Project Bhasha, and partly funded by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea), the event is open to the public.
The programme will commence with traditional Manipuri performances, including a Moibung performance by Irengbam Tomba Singh and a Pena recital by Tokpam Henthoiba Khunan and Bishorjit Khuman.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Hyungkyung Lee, Visiting Professor at Manipur University.
Featured Korean authors include Kyung-sook Shin, Sung-il Kim, and You-jeong Jeong. They will engage in conversation with Manipuri writers and scholars such as Dr Romita Ahanthem, Hermyne Khaling, Linthoi Chanu, and others.
The sessions will explore diverse themes, including reading Korean literature in Manipur, private stories across cultures, and the relationship between violence, memory, and literary expression.
Over the past two decades, Korean cultural influence in Manipur has grown through cinema, music, and television.
The literature festival marks an important step in deepening this engagement through direct literary exchange.
