IMPHAL, Feb 20 : On the occasion of Zomi Namni 2026, which is a celebration of unity and heritage pride for the Zomi tribes, the Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) has extended warm greetings to the Zomi community across Manipur and beyond.
Stating that Thadou community stands in solidarity with the Zomi people, TSA declared that Manipur’s true strength lies in truth, justice, mutual respect, coexistence, non-violence resolutions, and harmony among all ethnic groups: Meitei, Naga, Meitei-Pangal, Thadou, Zomi, Hmar, Mizo and others.
TSA recalled leaders like TC Tiankham of the Paite tribe, Zomi community, the first Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly under the 1947 Manipur State Constitution Act.
It asserted that such legacies highlight the deep role of tribal communities, including Zomi and Thadou, in shaping Manipur’s history.
TSA also expressed hope that Zomi Namni 2026 will strengthen their shared resolve to cherish their distinct tribal identities while proudly embracing their common Manipuri and Indian heritage.
It further conveyed appreciation for the historic declaration of Zomi Nami as a restricted State holiday in Manipur in 2020 under then-Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
