Implement NRC : Rastrahit Sarvopari Sangathan

IMPHAL, Feb 20 : The Rastrahit Sarvopari Sangathan has appealed to the Government of India and the State Government to implement NRC as a prerequisite to any National Census activities in the State.
The Organization has also petitioned President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to secure the National Highways to ensure immediate free movement of people and essential goods and expedite resettlement of all IDPs to their original homes, making sure that no citizen remains displaced.
It cautioned that if a census is conducted before the NRC, there is a severe risk that undocumented individuals will be officially recorded.
Stating that such a move would cause an irreversible shift in India's demography, it demanded immediate implementation of NRC to distinguish legitimate citizens from illegal migrants.
On a separate note, the Organization commended the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand for initiating vital steps towards reconciliation including direct community engagement, peace initiatives in Jiribam and compassion for the IDPs.
