Ukhrul, Feb 20: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised an Ex-Servicemen Interaction Programme at Sector  Headquarters, Somsai, for veterans from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
As per a release issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative sought to reinforce the enduring bond between serving personnel and the veteran community, while addressing welfare concerns and strengthening outreach in remote regions.
The interaction was chaired by Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 10 Sector Assam Rifles, who engaged directly with the attending veterans. A total of 18 Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen participated in the programme, which provided a constructive platform for open dialogue and mutual trust.
Key issues relating to pensions, medical assistance, documentation support and grievance redressal mechanisms were discussed in detail. All concerns raised during the session were duly recorded, with assurance of timely follow-up action.
The programme also facilitated dissemination of information on welfare schemes available to veterans, ensuring greater awareness and accessibility.
By fostering camaraderie and strengthening communication channels, the interaction reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to veteran welfare and community partnership.
