IMPHAL, Feb 21: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand reached New Delhi this afternoon and he may meet many key Central leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP National president Nitin Nabin either this evening or tomorrow morning.
The list of MLAs who would be inducted into the Council of Ministers may be finalised during the Chief Minister’s meetings with the Central leaders, sources said.
In addition to the list of Ministers, portfolios to be allotted to the Ministers may also be finalised.
The Chief Minister is likely to come back in the next couple of days and his Ministry will be expanded once he returns to Imphal, said the sources.
It was earlier reported that Yumnam Khemchand’s scheduled visit to New Delhi on February 21 has been deferred to February 22 on receiving the news that MLA Vungzagin Valte had died.
The Chief Minister deferred his trip to receive the mortal remains of Vungzagin Valte at Imphal.
However, as no official announcement was made by the hospital authority about the death of the MLA till late last night, the Chief Minister stuck to his earlier plan and left for New Delhi at 3 pm today.
