IMPHAL, Feb 21 : Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) rounded up three persons involved in preparation and distribution of printed answers to questions of COHSEM's Class XII examination paper today.
The three persons, detained by the DESAM, include one W Bisheshwor who runs a computer centre, Sushilkanta Chongtham who works at the centre, and Narengbam Ojit, who runs a students' boarding at Mayang Imphal.
The three persons will be handed over to the police for necessary legal actions, said DESAM's secretary general, Thoudam Shyamjai, speaking to reporters at its office at Keishampat today.
Shyamjai said DESAM volunteers detained the three persons in its crackdown to curb use of unfair means in the COHSEM's HSE.
He said DESAM volunteers found printed copies of papers containing serial wise-answers to all the corresponding questions of Human Ecology and Family Sciences paper at Waikhom Computer Centre at Mayang Imphal today.
While some copies of the answers were reportedly carried away by one Badal in the morning at around 10.38, DESAM further came to know about the involvement of one other person identified as Narengbam Ojit, who runs a boarding school, Shyamjai said.
Narengbam Ojit (47), who runs N Yaima Boarding Centre, allegedly procured and distributed answers of the recent English paper in pdf format, Shyamjai said.
One Clinton sold the answers to N Ojit at a rate between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 per paper/subject. The answers are delivered through one Michael.
The mobile phones of Badal, Clinton and Michael have been switched off and their whereabouts are not known, Shyamjai said.
While three persons who have been caught are being handed over to the police, Shyamjai said, COHSEM should investigate and take appropriate measures to curb use of unfair means and possible leakage of question papers.
