IMPHAL, Feb 21: For the first time after violence erupted on May 3, 2023, a Paite man from Chura-chandpur came to Imphal today.
Incidentally, Paite belongs to the Zo group of tribes.
Crossing the so-called buffer zones and overcoming all the hate politics being propagated by the advocates of a Separate Administration, the Paite man identified as Anthony Nauluk (41) visited his mother-in-law at Singjamei Chingamakha Yanglem Leirak today.
Anthony Nauluk came to Imphal to appeal directly to the Government to address the plight of IDPs.
Even though a Meitei man was murdered in cold blood in the most brutal manner on camera in Churachandpur as recently as January 21, 2026 when he visited his fiancee, a Kuki woman, no harm was done to Anthony Nauluk.
Anthony Nauluk married Okram Jaya Devi in 2018 of Singjamei Chingamakha Yanglem Leirak and they have a daughter.
Anthony Nauluk’s visit to his in-law’s home along with his wife and daughter marked an emotional reunion of a family separated by the protracted violence spearheaded by the proponents of Separate Administration.
Notably, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand had recently announced that the Government will ensure the safety and security of people belonging to both Kuki and Zomi communities when they come to Imphal. Anthony Nauluk who landed at Imphal from Delhi today said that his family was also displaced by the violence.
He said that he and his family fled to Delhi and stayed there. In between, he went to Churachandpur and there he saw the plight of IDPs.
Deeply hurt by the misfortunes and plight of IDPs, Anthony filed a PIL at the Supreme Court.
He said that he came to Imphal to urge the Government to address the plight of IDPs and ensure their rights.
On being asked how he felt about coming to Imphal after a gap of almost three years, Anthony declined from giving a direct reply.
Nonetheless, he expressed keen desire for the Government to provide necessary medical facility, adequate financial and educational support.
On being asked if he has any apprehension of trouble when he goes to Churachandpur, he said, “They will understand because I’m here for a good cause and to help the suffering people, and highlight the current issues.”
“Some people who cannot understand my intention may try to do different things but I would like to appeal to those people to first help the suffering people”, he added.
Okram Ruhini expressed utter joy and happiness on seeing her daughter, granddaughters and the son-in-law after a long gap.
Saying that she has grown old, Ruhini said that her only desire is living in peace together with all her family.
She also appealed to all the people to help restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Notably, COCOMI earlier declared that people of all communities coming to Imphal are safe and they have nothing to fear.
