18th Manipur State League MPSC edge past SFC 2-1 to become runaway leaders

IMPHAL, Feb 21 : Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) consolidated themselves on top of the Group C table of the 18th Manipur State League as they edged past Sainik School Imphal Old Boys’ Football Club (SFC), Tera today in their final league round match at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
MPSC, having sealed 5 wins and played out a draw in the previous 6 matches, fought back from a goal down to seal the 2-1 victory and become runaway group winners unbeaten on 19 points.
SFC, who were looking forward to ending their campaign with 5th win, went ahead in the 61st minute Jetlee Bura Gohain ending the goal drought but Khem Bahadur Bk helped MPSC make their way back into the game by scoring the equaliser in the 81st minute.
Akbar Khan then scored the winner for MPSC in the 84th minute and dashed SFC’s hopes of ending their campaign on a winning note.
Earlier in the day, Utlou FC trounced Pathap FC, Lilong 4-0 to end their Group C campaign with 2 wins.
Seram Sekho (6’) and Ahanthem Holland (17’) were on target to earn Utlou FC a 2-0 first half lead before Laithangbam Jackson Singh (53’) and Wangkheimayum Shivadas Singh (55') scored within ten minutes into the second half to complete the 4-0 rout of the Lilong team.
Later in the third match (Group C) of the day, Elite FA beat FC Lamjao in a 7-goal thriller.
FC Lamjao dominated the earlier proceedings and went up front with Ningthoujam Arnold Singh breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute but Elite FA cancelled the lead through Wahengbam Amekar in the 21st minute before overturning the lead through Huidrom Leisemba Meitei in the 30th minute. FC Lamjao however drew level right before the break with Longjam Gobin Singh scoring two minutes into the added time (45+2'). Elite FA regained the lead in the 47th minute through Dijipou Palmei but FC Lamjao restored parity yet again through Huidrom Rishiraj Singh within three minutes before  Lairenjam Sushil Singh scored the winner for Elite FA three minutes away from time.
