HC sets aside

IMPHAL, Feb 21: A single bench of the High Court of Manipur has set aside a February 5 order of Sessions Judge Churachandpur granting a 15-day interim antici- patory bail to one Sh Tuanzakhup, retired Superintendent of Customs Preventive Force, in a case under Prevention of Corruption Act.
During the hearing today, CBI's counsel challenged the February 5 order stating the Sessions Judge, Churachandpur has no territorial jurisdiction for entertaining an anticipatory bail application as the place of occurence is Champhai, Mizoram.
Considering the materials on record, the Court said the Sessions Judge's February 5 is set aside and the whole proceeding is quashed.
The Court granted 10 days till March 2 to the accused to approach a competent Court in Mizoram for relief.
