Senapati, Feb 21 : The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) and the Joint Tribe Council (JTC) have suspended the blockade on Kangpokpi-Churachand-pur alternate road today following constant meetings and series of talks initiated by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to lift the blockade was signed at the official residence of Dikho at Lamphel in the presence of Government representatives.
Before the signing of the agreement, the Deputy Chief Minister briefed the importance of maintaining peace amongst different communities in Manipur.
He appealed to all to come to the table to address their grievances rather than resorting to agitations or violence.
As per the MoA, representatives of FNCC and JTC and the Government represented by Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home) mutually agreed that no construction of unauthorized roads shall be permitted in Naga-inhabited areas.
The agreement also said that necessary legal action shall be initiated after due verification of the status of any such illegal construction or unauthorized naming of roads.
The signatories agreed that designated camps of Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact shall not be allowed to be established, relocated, or to function within or in close proximity to Naga- inhabited areas.
No militant groups, whether under SoO or not, shall be permitted to roam or operate in Naga-inhabited areas.
Further, it was agreed that the roads from Konsakhul to Koutruk, Waphong to Kangchup, and all inter village roads in the foothills areas shall be reopened immediately to ensure free, safe, and unhindered passage for all residents.
Based on the above understanding, the FNCC and JTC agreed to suspend the blockade.
