Security forces arrest UKNA cadre with arms

IMPHAL, Feb 22: In crackdown against armed militants, State police and army arrested an active cadre of United National Kuki Army (UKNA) at Jolzam village, Churachandpur today.
The arrested cadre of the non-SoO group UKNA has been identified as self-styled 2nd Lt Thangminlun Haokip alias Philip (32 years), son of Chungpao Haokip, a resident of Jolzam village.
The arrest was made early this morning at around 2 am.
From his possession, security forces seized one AK-47 Rifle with a magazine and one mobile phone.
SS 2nd Lt Thangminlun Haokip is identified as a 'high value target' for his active involvement in extortion activities on behalf of the organisation, and direct operational linkage with other UKNA cadres, said a source. He is an active and operational cadre of the UKNA. He joined the outfit in November 2023. The arrested person along with the recovered items have been handed over to Churachandpur police, said the source.
