18th MSL : NEROCA FC thrash TRUGPU 4-1 to finish Group C runners up

IMPHAL, Feb 22 : NEROCA FC capped their Group C campaign in the 18th Manipur State League with a 4-1 thrashing of TRUGPU, Nambol for the fifth win at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong this morning.
The result also meant that NEROCA FC are league runners up behind MPSC on 16 points (5 wins and 1 draw).
NEROCA FC enjoyed a slender 1-0 first half lead today thanks to Mustaf Aribam’s 40th minute strike before Naorem Alex drew level for TRUGPU in the 48th minute.
The parity however did not last long as Md Ruhid Khan retained the lead for NEROCA FC the very next minute before Shanoujam Bikash who came off the bench after the break further extended the lead to 3-1 in the 66th minute.
Ruhid Khan was on the target yet again in the 88th minute to sink TRUGPU 4-1.
In a Group A match that began at 11:45 am, Rahee UC notched up a 6-3 win over XI Star SU, Akampat riding on a treble from Maiya Ningshen (72’, 87’, 90’) after Moirangthem Abinash opened the floodgate in the 12th minute and Julian Keishing hit a brace (66’, 71’).
For XI Star SU, Oinam Poireiton scored twice (45+1’, 76’) after Sorokhaibam Navison found a goal in the 44th minute.
In a Group B match staged later in the day, Imphal FA beat TRAU 1-0 thanks to Yokmipam Awungchihui’s 5th minute goal and ended their league campaign with 2 wins and 1 draw.
It was on the other hand TRAU’s fifth loss in the campaign that also included one win and one draw.
