IMPHAL, Feb 22 : Sonjoy scored an unbeaten half century and picked four wickets to guide KCC, Kongba to a 25-run victory over CHAMP, Khagempalli today at Langthabal Public Ground.
It was KCC’s fourth Group A victory on the trot.
Opting to bat first, KCC rode on Sonjoy’s unbeaten 51 off 26 balls to post a total of 115 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and bundled out CHAMP for 90 runs in 19.2 overs to seal the 25-run victory.
Uttam (3/22) and Thomas (2/12) of CHAMP shared five wickets in first innings before Gopeshore 24 off 31 balls and Geet 17 off 21 balls led the scoring for CHAMP in a lost cause as KCC’s Sonjoy (4/9 in 3.2 overs) and Chumthao (4/9 in 4 overs) wreaked havoc across their batting line up. Sonjoy was eventually declared man of the match.
Later in a Group B match, UCC notched up a 79-run victory against NCA, Nambol.
Asked to bat first, UCC raised 155 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs thanks to major contributions from Trimal 38 off 35 balls, Swami 28 off 16 balls and Joyshangkar 23 not out off 14 balls before Prem (4/20), Hemjit (2/6) and Trimal (2/1) bowled out NCA for 76 runs in 15.3 overs.
For NCA, Bidyananda enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/24) before Robert 21 emerged the highest run getter for them in the chase.
