IMPHAL, Feb 23: Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged Manipur University, colleges and relevant authorities to conduct the undergraduate 1st Semester examinations fairly. Asserting examinations in many colleges are not conducted fairly, DESAM, in a statement, said the university authorities, teachers of the colleges and external observers must be true to their duties and sincerely oversee the conduct of the examination freely and fairly.
Teachers, as they would treat their own children, must ensure their students are given the right advice and encouraged to shun use of unfair means, DESAM said.
A complete reform of the examination system is highly required in Manipur to ensure quality and improve the overall education system, DESAM said.
DESAM said it has been demanding the Manipur University to select and list examination centres and do away with the existing system of colleges conducting their own examinations. The university must have multi-examination halls, and some colleges may be notified as district examination centres, it said.
Colleges must have dedicated examination halls. No classrooms must serve as examination halls as regular classes of other semesters often get suspended during examination period, DESAM said.
Further, external observers of the examinations must file their true findings/reports verbally or in writing to the Examination Controller, DESAM added.
