21st Governor’s Cup Women’s Polo Tournament begins

IMPHAL, Feb 23 : Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club, Malom registered an 11-2 win over Manipur Polo Sports Club (MPSC) as the 21st Governor’s Cup Women’s Polo Tournament kicked off at Mapal Kangjeibung under the aegis of the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association.
Y Ranjita scored a goal apiece across the four chukkers to fashion the dominating win for Ibudhou Pakhangba Polo Club as N Felicia scored thrice, one each in the first three chukkers.
S Ngounu also chipped in two goals for the winners as Kh Chaoba and Y Shira scored a goal each in the final chukker.
For MPSC, Gaijillu Golmei scored both the goals, one each in the second and third chukkers.
The day also saw X-Polo Club outlast Tekcham Polo Club 13-5 in the second match of the 32nd Governor’s Cup Invitation (Men’s) Polo Tournament-2026.
Th Jacob starred with five goals in this one sided encounter as L Atangba and Th Santosh scored three goals apiece and P Ojit scored twice.
X Polo Club led the first chukker 3-0 before taking a 7-2 lead in the second chukker with S Sadananda and M Tomba scoring a goal each for Tekcham Polo Club.
X-Polo Club further extended the lead to 9-4 in the third chukker as Th Jacob scored his final two goals against two goals scored by P Bikash for Tekcham Polo Club.
P Ojit and Th Santosh added two goals apiece in the final chukker to seal the 13-5 win as S Sadananda had his second and the final goal for the Tekcham side.
