IMPHAL, Feb 23 : Two school teachers were caught with a van-full of electronic items including printers and laptops, allegedly used to aid use of unfair means in BOSEM's Class X examination today.
The two teachers of Khomdon Educational Blooming Institute (KEBI) located at Charangpat Mamang Leikai have been identified as Konsam Deepak (28) and Shagolsem Umakanta (50), both of Charangpat Mayai Leikai.
One of them teaches Social Science and Mathematics, and the other teaches English, said a source.
They were caught by members and volunteers of Indigenous Youth Association Kangleipak (IYAK) after a brief chase near PLC Academy, Yairipok.
The two were brought to BOSEM officials and later handed over to the police. They may be produced before a Court in Thoubal tomorrow, said the source.
A team of Indigenous Youth Association Kangleipak (IYAK) had conducted inspections at different examination centres including at the PLC Academy to check use of unfair means in the examination which began today.
At the PLC Academy, the IYAK team allegedly came across a large number of copies of sheets containing answers.
Acting on their suspicion that some individuals may be supplying the notes, the team began searching the school compound and surrounding area, and found one suspiciously parked Maruti Van near the compound.
When they approached the vehicle, it quickly drove away from the spot.
The volunteers and members of IYAK stopped the vehicle, and found printers, laptops and other electronic items inside.
The IYAK team then detained the two occupants of the vehicle who were later identified as teachers of Khomdon Educational Blooming Institute (KEBI).
The two were then brought before the Secretary and Controller of Examination of BOSEM, and later handed over to the police at Nongpok Sekmai PS for taking up necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of examination centre PLC Academy Yairipok has refuted allegations that unfair means were used in the centre.
The examination in the centre was conducted peacefully and no untoward incidents happened during the duration of the examination, said Officer-in-Charge.
The officer also called on authorities concerned to act stringently against persons who supply notes and aid use of unfair means in examination.
