Exotic goat smugglers held

IMPHAL, Feb 23: Security forces intercepted a four-wheeler DI smuggling 24 Ibex (wild mountain goats) and arrested two persons yesterday.
The arrested have been identified as Md Kalim (35) of Mayai Leikai, Kakching district, and Md Sabir Khan (19) of Phundrei Thoubal district.
They were smuggling the exotic species of mountain goats from Myanmar and travelling towards Pallel, said the police.
Ibex is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.
The arrested persons along with the seized wild mountain goats and the DI vehicle have been handed over to the Forest Department, said the police.
