74th All India Police Volleyball Cluster Manipur settle for bronze in women’s team event; reach men’s team event final

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : Manipur won a bronze medal in the women’s team event while assuring at least a silver medal in the men’s team event at the 74th All India Police Volleyball Cluster being underway at Thiruvananthapuram.
Manipur suffered 1-2 loss to Assam in the semi-final today to finish with the bronze medal.
Manipur made a positive start by securing 3-0 wins over Kerala, Karnataka and Gujarat in the league round but went down 15-4, 15-7; 13-15, 16-17; 12-15, 13-15 in the semi-final staged today.
Meanwhile, Manipur defeated Tamil Nadu 15-10, 15-6; 15-4, 15-6 today in a semi-final match of the men’s team event today to book their final ticket.
Earlier in the league round, Manipur got the better of Karnataka 15-6, 15-8; 15-5, 15-7; 15-6, 15-8 and eased past hosts Kerala 15-6, 15-6; 15-3, 15-8; 15-4, 15-7 to make it to the quarterfinal.
In the quarterfinal, Manipur thumped Chandigarh 15-4, 15-7; 15-4, 15-3 to advance to the semi-final.
