IMPHAL, Feb 24 : The All Manipur Arambai Association (AMAA) today successfully hosted the 1st edition of the State Level Men and Women’s Arambai Tournament 2026 at NESU ground in Khurai Thangjam Leikai.
The inaugural edition of the tournament was formally opened in the presence of advisor to AMAA and former Deputy Director of Education (S), Hareshwar Goswami as chief guest; advisor to AMAA, Laishram Sarat as guest of honour and AMAA president Maisnam Khelendro as the functional president.
Speaking at the event, Hareshwar Goswami highlighted the rich legacy and historical significance of once a lethal and effective instrument of Manipur's cavalry unit.
He also lauded AMAA for organising the tournament with the aim of reviving and popularizing the traditional martial dart weapon in the form of a sport. Notably 10 women and 20 men athletes competed in 3 different events of the one day tournament. The events include target throw for men and distance throw for men and women.
