Stage set for 32nd Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament semi-finals

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : The semi-final line up of the 32nd Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament completed today with Assam Rifles Polo Team and Chingkheihunba Polo Club securing quarter-final victories at Mapal Kangjeibung this afternoon.
In the third semi-final match of the 8-team tournament, Assam Rifles Polo Team pulled off a 12-4 win over MPSC Polo Team-B riding on five goals from Kh Chandrakumar, four from M Kuber and three from S Bon Bon.
T Pradeepkumar meanwhile added twice and M Devanath and M Surjit scored a goal apiece for MPSC Polo Team-B.
Bon Bon and M Kuber scored a goal apiece to give AR Polo Team a 2-1 lead in the first chukker as M Devanath added one for the losing side before Chandrakumar added thrice, M Kuber scored twice and S Bon Bon added one to extend AR Polo Team’s lead to 8-1.
Chandrakumar scored his fourth in the third chukker to make it 9-1 before he chipped in one more in the final chukker that also saw Chandrakumar and Bon Bon hammering home a goal each.
Pradeepkumar meanwhile scored twice for MPSC Polo Team-B in the final chukker as M Surjit managed one.
Later in the last quarterfinal encounter, Chingkheihunba Polo Club, Kongpal sealed a hardfought 4-3 win over MPSC Polo Team-A.
The two sides were locked at 3-3 till the final chukker before O Rozer found the golden goal in the fifth chukker.
S Bimol put MPSC Polo Team-A ahead 6 minutes past the 5th minute before Leishemba Takhellambam scored the equaliser 9 seconds away from 6th minute to make it 1-1.
Chingkheihunba PC took a 2-1 lead in the second chukker thanks to O Rozer’s solitary strike before MPSC Polo Team-A found the equaliser in the third chukker through S Abungcha.
The final chukker saw MPSC Polo Team-A retain the lead through Abungcha in the fourth minute (3:09) but Leishemba drew level in the 6th minute (5:51) to stretch the game fifth chukker where in O Rozer scored the winner for the Kongpal side in the third minute.
