18th Manipur State League YOSC, Rahee UC, FC Raengdai victorious as Group stage concludes

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : YOSC, Khurai; Rahee UC, Kamjong and FC Raengdai, Noney emerged victorious in their final Group A matches as the group league stage of the 18th Manipur State League came to a close today at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the first match of the day, YOSC edged NACO, Nambul Mapal in a five goal thriller for the third win in 7 matches and to finish third in the Group A standings.
YOSC enjoyed earlier dominance and headed into the break with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Laishram Daniel (1’) and Md Ashif Khuleipam before Worchuipei Kashung made it 3-0 after 70 minutes.
NACO however staged a late fightback with K Ronaldo pulling back a goal in the 80th minute before his teammate Kh Suraj made it 2-3 after 88 minutes.
They however failed to make further inroads with YOSC ramping up their defence to thwart any alterations in the scoreline.
In the second match, Rahee UC beat NESU, Khurai 2-0 to end their campaign with three wins.
Moirangthem Abinash who came off the bench after the break found the lead in the 67th minute before Maiya Ningshen scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute.
With the result, NESU finished fourth in the team standings on 11 points off 3 wins and 2 draws from 7 matches.
In the third match, FC Raengdai edged past XI Star SU, Akampat by 2-1 goals.
FC Raengdai got off to a flying start with the midfielders and the forwards working in tandem.
Following some threatening runs, Sendy Mangte found the breakthrough in the 27th minute before Xavier Ruangmei doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Oinam Poireiton scored the consolation goal for XI Star SU late in the 83rd minute.
