Vegetable traders appeal

IMPHAL, Feb 24: Vehicles transporting vegetables from outside States to Imphal via Jiribam have been threatened and their movements are being dictated by a group of armed men at Noney area, vegetable traders have claimed.
Speaking to reporters at Sagolband Meino Leirak, North East Vegetable Farm Workers and Traders Union's general secretary Oinam ongbi Ranjita said the armed men disturbing the transport of vegetables are working at the behest of a person from Jiribam.
The person is dictating the terms of transporting vegetables and even fixing prices of vegetables, she said, demanding immediate attention of the Government and its relevant authorities.
The State authorities must act immediately to ensure free movement of vehicles transporting vegetables, she added.
