IMPHAL, Feb 25: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) celebrated its 16th Raising Day today. During the observance, ZUF chairman S Kamson remembered and paid his respect to patriots who laid down their lives for the motherland, and reaffirmed ZUF's pledge to protect the spirit and rights of Zeliangrong Inpui people, said the organisation in a statement.
"On this Red Letter Day, the Front reaffirms its sacred responsibility to safeguard the rights, identity, land and resources of the Zeliangrong Inpui people. Our ancestral land is not a commodity--it is a living heritage entrusted to us by generations past. Therefore, all threats that endanger its sanctity--poppy cultivation, illicit drug trafficking, arms smuggling, the so-called German Road, Tiger Road, illegal SoO camps, newly constructed illegal villages, illegal immigrants and refugees and land encroachments must be firmly opposed and decisively removed," read the ZUF chairman's message.
"The dream of Zeliangrong State is not a mere political aspiration; it is the yearning of a people to preserve their identity, culture and rightful place in history," he added.
