Veteran T-20 Cricket : CYCLONE storms into quarterfinals with five of five win

IMPHAL, Feb 26 : CYCLONE, Thangmeiband are into the quarterfinals of the XIII T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament as they beat YCC, Wangkhei by 27 runs for the fifth Group C victory this afternoon.
Riding on Robindro 34, Jugalkishore 23 and Joyo 19, CYCLONE, Thangmeiband posted a modest total of 124/6 before Tiken (4/13), Chinglensana (2/22) and Jugalkishore (2/17) shared 8 wickets to bundle out YCC for 97 runs.
For YCC, Sanjit Laishram (2/18) and Sanjit Sharma (2/23) led the bowling attack before Loya 26, Sanjit 13 and Shilananda 10 emerged only double digit run getters in the chase.
Tiken of CYCLONE was declared man of the match.
Earlier in a Group A match, BSC-A, Brahmapur Laljilakpa Leikai handed LCCC, Lilong Chajing a 38 run defeat to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive.
BSC-A racked up a competitive total of 155/4 courtesy of Tarun 45, Rishi 28 and Thoungamba 27 not out and restricted LCCC to 117/6 thanks to an economical bowling attack led by Tarun (3/14) and Thomas (2/23).
Bijin (2/34) was the pick of the LCCC bowlers earlier in the first innings before Kison 44, Shibadatta 34 and Ashok 23 not out led the slow chase.
Tarun, who shone with both the bat and the ball and set up BSC-A’s third win in four matches, was named man of the match.
