IMPHAL, Feb 27 : K Priyojit produced an allround show to guide TRAU, Kwakeithel to an 8-wicket win over REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai in the ongoing 10th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Trophy at Moijing Public Ground.
TRAU, who had scored five wins in 6 matches, chose wisely to bowl first and dismantled REYS for 115 runs in 29.1 overs before cruising to the winning 119/2 in the same 29.1 overs to stretch their winning run to 6 games.
Kiran Laishram 35 off 72 balls, Md Shamir Khan 29 off 32 balls, Naorem Victor 12 not out and Ringku Kangujam 11 were the only double digit run getters for REYS in the first innings before they collapsed at 115 in the face of brilliant bowling performances from Priyojit Kangabam (3/14), Ningthoujam Sanjit (2/24), Anoubam Puinachandra (2/20) and Somorjit Salam (2/32).
In reply, TRAU had a cautious start but slipped to 25/2 in 7.5 overs as P Prafullomani 15 and Huiningshumbam Luching 5 were undone by Sohail Akram (1/23) and Naorem Victor (1/6) before Priyojit Kangabam 49 not out off 73 balls (5 fours and 1 six) and Tyrus Chabungbam 33 not out off 60 balls (3 fours) produced an unbeaten 94-run stand for the third wicket to seal the victory.
Priyojit was eventually named player of the match.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, RCA, Lilong beat CRAU, Khamnam Bazar by 12 runs for the fourth win in 7 matches.
Asked to bat first, RCA were dismissed for 129 runs in 32.4 overs despite Md Danish Khan’s late 50 off 37 balls but successfully defended their lowly total restricting CRAU to 117/9 in the allotted 40 overs riding on frugal bowling attack led by Naesh Hussain (3/12) and Makakmayum Aziz Mirza (2/19).
Md Imran Khan 24 off 49 and Iliyas 16 off 15 also made double digit figures for RCA in the first innings that saw CRAU’s Ayekpam Rakesh (3/19), Lamabam Jotin (2/13), Takhellambam Kala (2/22) and Khumanthem Prakash (2/39) sharing 9 wickets among them.
