68th State Masters Badminton C’ships Rajkumar Henry to face K Ravi Shankar for 35+ men’s singles title

IMPHAL, Feb 27 : Rajkumar Henry of BDBA will face K Ravi Shankar of IWDBA for the 35+ men’s singles title at the 68th State Masters Badminton Championships being underway at MSBA Indoor Hall, DMU Campus.
Rajkumar Henry entered the final with a 23-21, 21-17 semi-final win over Sanjenbam Ningthoujao of IWDBA today before K Ravi Shankar got the better of Longjam Premjit of TDBA 21-9, 21-9 in the second semi-final match.
Earlier yesterday, RK Henry outlasted Debabarta Konsam of IEDBA 21-12, 21-12 to seal his semi-final berth while  Ravi Shankar outlasted Kangjam Janus of IWDBA 21-16, 21-19 to make his way to the semi-finals.
Ksh Devjit vs L Dinesh in 40+ men’s singles final
Kshetrimayum Devjit Singh of IWDBA and Leishangthem Dinesh of KDBA will fight it out for the 40+ men’s singles final of the championships.
Devjit booked his final ticket with a walkover win against Sagolsem Surkumar Ningthouja of IEDBA today before Leishangthem Dinesh prevailed 21-10, 21-9 over Khomdram Jiten of BDBA in the second semi-final match.
L Ramesh and P Krishnakumar in 45+ men’s singles final
Lukram Ramesh of IWDBA will play Pukhrambam Krishnakumar of KDBA in the title clash of the 45+ men’s singles competition.
Ramesh eased into the final with a 21-4, 21-7 win over compatriot Keisham Bimolkumar in the first semi-final before P Krishnakumar beat Pheiroijam Iranjit of TDBA 21-16, 22-20 in the second semi-final match.
Johny Mahesh and W Amusana in 50+ men’s singles final
Meanwhile Johny Mahesh Wahengbam of IWDBA will square off with W Amusana of IEDBA for the 50+ men’s singles competition title.
Johny Mahesh Wahengbam defeated compatriot Khwairakpam Rajesh 21-18, 21-12 in the first semi-final before W Amusana of IEDBA overwhelmed Mayengbam Surjit of IWDBA 21-11, 21-18 in the second semi-final match to complete the final line up.
 Heny Luny vs Ha Vareishang in 55+ men’s singles
The day also saw Heny Luny of SDBA and Ha Vareishang of UDBA making it to the 55+ men’s singles.
Heny Luny overcame compatriot Mukesh Taterway 22-20, 22-20 in the first semi-final match today before Ha Vareishang earned a walkover win over BDBA’s Hemam Inaocha in the second semi-final match.
45+ men’s doubles
The day also witnessed the completion of three quarterfinal matches of the 45+ men’s doubles competition.
In the first quarterfinal match, Pukhrambam Krishnakumar  and Pukhrambam Romesh reached the 45+ men’s doubles semi-finals with a 21-9, 21-16 victory over IWDBA/BDBA pair of Konsam Dineshkumar and Yumnam Motilal.
In the second quarterfinal match, Laishram Krishnakumar and Thongam Biswajit got the better of TDBA and IWDBA pair of Pheiroijam Iranjit and Th Phulachandra 21-15, 21-23, 21-13.
Later in the day, Akoijam Pradip Kumar and Lukram Ramesh Singh of IWDBA saw off the IWDBA pair of Oinam Basanta and Sinam Ghanendro 21-9, 21-19 to advance to the semis.
Stage set for 60+ men’s doubles final
The final line up of the 60+ men’s doubles competition was also completed today with IWDBA/IEDBA pair of Toijam Nimai and W Amusana and the other pair of Nongthombam Biren and Yumkhaibam Samarendra securing semi-final victories.
In the first semi-final match, Toijam Nimai and W Amusana eased past K Gopeshwor and Th Ibotombi of IWDBA 21-17, 21-11 as N Biren and Y Samarendra edged out IWDBA pair of Akoijam Sadananda and I Shantikumar 21-18, 10-21, 21-12.
