Yairipok FC emerge winners of 5th L Memcha Devi Super Division Football League

IMPHAL, Feb 27 : Yairipok FC emerged as the champions of the 5th L Memcha Devi Super Division Football League organised by the District Football Association Thoubal at Mini Stadium, Thoubal.
The day saw, SOCDEC, Wangjing who were the closest contender of the top honour behind Yairipok FC, settle for the second place despite a 2-0 win over SLYO, Tekcham.
SOCDEC led the first half 1-0 as Kh Oken of SLYO conceded an own goal in the 18th minute before Shrinivash doubled the advantage and sealed the victory in the 51st minute.
In the final league match of the 6-team tournament, HKKSA, Kiyam played out a 2-2 draw with JJFA, Thoubal to finish third.
HKKSA went ahead within 3 minutes as O Paul found the lead but the lead was shortlived as Umakanta drew level for JJFA in the 5th minute.
JJFA even went ahead after 41 minute with Lanchenba securing the lead but Lamjingba of HKKSA found the equaliser in the 50th minute.
The parity however lasted till the final whistle and eventually the two sides shared a point apiece.
