CM directs PWD to begin construction of JNIMS roads

IMPHAL, Feb 28: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has instructed officials of the Public Works Depart-ment (PWD) to immediately begin reconstruction of the internal roads of JNIMS complex.
The Chief Minister gave the instruction to the PWD officials while he was at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital, Prorompat today attending the launch of a HPV vaccination campaign under Swastha Nari Programme.
While inspecting JNIMS Hospital on the sideline of the HPV vaccination programme, Y Khemchand acknowledged that the condition of the roads inside JNIMS complex posing a health risk to the public and needed immediate action.
He observed that the dust from the roads was affecting the hospital's environment.
The Chief Minister then called officials of the PWD and instructed them to begin the reconstruction of the roads immediately.
The Chief Minister attended the launch of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign against Cervical Cancer at the Auditorium Hall of JNIMS.
Prior to the programme, he flagged off 33 ambulances for maternity services to various districts.
The ambulances were funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and procured by the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, to streng-then maternal and child healthcare delivery across the State.
During the launching event, the Chief Minister visited the Registration Counter, Vaccination Room, and Observation Room at JNIMS.
He interacted with doctors, nurses, and beneficiaries.
He handed over the vaccination certificate to a girl who received the HPV vaccine.
He also inspected the internal roads of the JNIMS campus and reviewed the condition of the infrastructure.
Notably, the vaccination campaign was launched Nationwide across all States and Union Territories by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually from Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Launching the campaign virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the daughters of the country are healthy and prosperous.
He described the Nationwide HPV vaccination drive as a transformative step in preventive healthcare to protect girls from cervical cancer.
The HPV vaccine protects girls from HPV infection, which is the leading cause of cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women.
The HPV vaccine is a single-dose schedule  being administered to 14-15 year-old girls under a campaign mode strategy. Cabinet Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh; Chief Secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel, Administrative Secretaries, Director of Health Services, doctors, nurses, and medical staff, among others, attended the programme at JNIMS.
