Union Minister takes stock of Noney

Noney, Feb 27 : As part of the Central Government efforts to bring development in different regions of the State, Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma on Friday visited Noney District  to review the progress of major infrastructure projects and Central Sector Schemes in the district.
The MoS arrived at Longmai Common Ground Helipad by chopper from Imphal International Airport around 10 am today.
Noney DC Vidyamari Sridhar, IAS and Noney SP Namsadai Peter along with the other District Administration officials and Longmai 1 Social & Cultural Dance Troupe accorded a warm welcome to the MoS.
After the formal function was over, Srinivasa Varma visited the Longmai Primary Health Centre and distributed Ayushman Cards (PMJAY) to four beneficiaries of the district and also handed over keys to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin beneficiaries at Rangkhung region.
He also visited the construction site of Bridge No 164, the world’s tallest railway pier bridge under the Northeast Frontier Railway in Noney district, and reviewed the ongoing works. A tree plantation drive organized by the 119 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Assam was also inaugurated at the site.
Accompanied by officials of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the MoS inspected the progress of NH-37 (Imphal–Jiribam Road) up to Awangkhul and reviewed developmental work at Awangkhul Railway Station.
After the site visits, Minister Srinivasa chaired a review meeting at Noney DC office with the District Level Officers (DLOs) from all the line departments of Noney including the Railways and NHIDCL officials on the implementation of Central Sector Schemes in the district.
He also discussed other important agenda concerning the district.
Drawing the attention of the Minister, various DLOs of Noney district highlighted the achievements of their departments in recent years through power point presentations and also addressed their grievances by seeking support from the Central Ministry during the meeting.
Minister Srinivasa Varma also planted trees at the Noney DC Office Complex during his maiden visit apart from visiting stalls of various departments viz Forest, Agriculture, RD&PR, Horticulture etc displayed at the office.
The Minister departed for Imphal later in the day.
