IMPHAL, Feb 27 : The Gangluan Village Authority has claimed that a mob of nearly 100 men and women vandalised the residence of the village chairman, along with several houses belonging to his relatives.
The village authority, in a press note, urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action.
The alleged incident occurred yesterday at around 10 am at Gangluan-II, located under the Khoupum Sub-Division in Noney District and the attack, according to the village authority, resulted in the destruction of property valued at approximately Rs 5 crore.
Additionally, it claimed that several pets and domestic animals were killed during the violent incident.
Claiming that the mob not only targeted the chairman’s residence but also vandalized ten residential houses and two pucca buildings belonging to his extended family, leaving them beyond repair, the village authority condemned such acts of violence, emphasizing that they are completely unacceptable.
It further stated that attacking families and destroying property undermines the social fabric of the village.
Asserting that the perpetrators must be held accountable, it urged law enforcement agencies to take necessary actions to ensure justice.
