Ukhrul, Feb 27 : In a momentous celebration of his five-decade-long journey in the Naga National movement, RH Raising, a member of the NSCN (IM) collective leadership and special emissary, reflected on his personal experiences from the armed struggle to the pursuit of a peaceful resolution in the Indo-Naga political talks.
The thanksgiving ceremony which was hosted by Peh Village and the Peh National Worker Forum at the Peh Baptist Church compound began with the unveiling of a monument dedicated to RH Raising at Longvirah Peh.
The monument was inscribed with the words, "RH Raising - 50 Years of Service to the Naga National Movement for Naga Sovereignty."
This was followed by a special prayer invocation led by Pastors from neighbouring villages, who prayed for RH Raising’s health, strength, and divine guidance in leading the Naga movement.
Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony, Raising shared his personal journey, saying he joined the Naga revolutionary movement in 1975 and is now the only surviving member of his batch.
He expressed deep gratitude to all the individuals and villages that provided shelter and protection during critical times, emphasising that the celebration was as much about thanksgiving to them as it was about honouring his own service.
Reflecting on his many hardships, including imprisonment and battlefield struggles, Raising stated that these experiences had only strengthened his resolve and deepened his commitment to the Naga cause of self-determination.
"Surviving such trials has only reaffirmed my faith and my commitment to our Naga political cause," he added.
Raising also conveyed a spiritual message, stating, “God has a plan for the Nagas. He has given us a kingdom of Nagalim for Christ."
"Our strength comes from the Lord. We Nagas are Christ-oriented, and ‘Nagalim for Christ’ is our guiding principle," he added.
Addressing the ongoing struggle between the Naga people and India, Raising emphasised that the battle is not about strength but a question of right and wrong.
He also said that Nagas focus on truth, faith, and the power of righteousness, rather than military might, financial strength, or evil plans.
"Our hidden strength lies in the mighty name of the Lord," he said.
Raising also reflected on his journey from the armed conflict to political dialogue, culminating in the signing of the Framework Agreement.
He urged the younger Naga generation to stay resolute in defending their land, sovereignty, history, and future.
Kapangsing R Shimray, chairman of Peh Village, expressed gratitude for RH Raising's sacrifices and unwavering dedication to the Naga political cause.
"We are hosting this thanksgiving ceremony to show our unflinching support for his leadership and our commitment remains with him," Shimray said.
The event was further supported by words of encouragement from prominent Naga leaders, including Major General (retired) Ramkathing Varah, Major General (retired) RS Chinaoyo, Colonel (retired) Ngathingkhui Lungleng etc.
RH Raising, affectionately known as "Oja Hao Raising" by the Naga people for his exemplary leadership and decision-making, has played a pivotal role in strengthening the Naga movement and building relationships within the organisation.
As part of the celebration, a grand feast was also organised.
