IMPHAL, Feb 5 : A delegation from the All India Kendriya Vidyalaya Teachers’ Association met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday regarding the launch of a revised career progression scheme for KVS teachers.
The delegation was led by general secretary MP Singh, according to a statement.
During the meeting, MP Singh stated that since 1987, KVS teachers have received career progression benefits only after 12 years of service for Senior Scale and after 24 years for Selection Scale. However, this system is no longer aligned with the present career progression structure.
Since 2009, the Association has been demanding that KVS teachers be provided the benefits of the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme, he said.
In response, the Education Minister acknowledged that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an important and prestigious organization under the Ministry of Education and assured that KVS teachers will receive timely benefits without delay.
He directed Vikash Gupta, Commissioner, KVS, to prepare a detailed proposal within 6 to 8 months, after which the MACP scheme will reportedly be implemented for KVS teachers.
Others present at the meeting include Sanjay Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy along with Joint Secretary Prati Pandey and other senior officials of KVS.
