IMPHAL, Feb 8 : The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has announced that all preparations are in place for the North East Indigenous Games and Cultural Exchange Pro-grammes, scheduled to take place from February 23 to 25, 2026.
Addressing a programme held at Kwakeithel today, AMUCO president Sorokhaibam Sanjoy emphasised that the event aims to bring together the North East States.
Stating that the opening ceremony will take place at Tiddim Ground and the competitions will conclude on February 24, he said that the cultural exchange programmes will be held at Mapal Kangjeibung on February 25.
He urged everyone to participate in the activities and contribute to the celebration of indigenous sports and culture.
Sanjoy stated that civil society organisations (CSOs), the media, and intellectuals are the three pillars that have the power to shape society.
The condition of Manipur society has been deteriorating, he said and added that the situation has worsened further since the eruption of the current crisis on May 3, 2023.
Claiming that the crisis in Manipur is not an ethnic clash but the result of a proxy war being waged by the Government of India, Sanjoy emphasised that AMUCO does not operate on religious or communal grounds.
Editors and reporters of different media houses also attended the programme.
