AR organised “Inter Village Volleyball Tournament” concludes

A week-long Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament, organised under the Assam Rifles’ Operation Sadbhavana Project 2025–26, concluded at Namlee village playgrounds in Kamjong district yesterday.
The tournament, held from January 31 to February 7, was aimed at promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness and strengthening civil–military relations in the border areas along the India–Myanmar frontier, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
Ten village teams participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing discipline, teamwork and spirited competition. The matches drew large crowds, turning each contest into a celebration of local talent and community engagement.
The grand finale on February 7 saw Team K Ashang and AGM Wanglee face off in a thrilling contest marked by intense rallies and excellent coordination.
Team K Ashang emerged victorious, clinching the championship title with an impressive performance in the decisive sets.
The enticing finals and the closing ceremony were witnessed by around 150 villagers including village elders from surrounding communities and the Assam Rifles personnel.
The winners were felicitated with a trophy, gold medals and a cash prize, while the runners-up received silver medals and sports kits, the release said.
The tournament provided a positive platform for youth engagement, fostering unity and mutual understanding among border communities, it added.
