IMPHAL, Feb 28 : TCMDC, Thongju squeeze into the quarterfinals of the XIII T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament as they thumped SNC, Sangaiprou by 36 runs for the fourth in five Group D matches.
TCMDC erected a competitive total of 144 runs for 8 wickets after electing to bat first and restricted SNC to 108 runs for 8 wickets to enter the quarterfinals along with SU, who are runaway Group D winners.
Gulshannanda 44 off 33, Krishna 25 off 16 and Anand 24 off 20 led the scoring for TCMDC today in the first innings that saw Ronelkumar 2/27 and Rajen 2/17 sharing 4 wickets for SNC.
In reply, Rajen 30 and Ronelkumar 25 emerged the main run getters for SNC as Jiten 3/17, Brajakumar 3/21 and Bijesh 2/18 led the frugal TCMDC bowling attack.
Earlier in the day, RNEF-MICA, Mayang Imphal defeated YAC, Yaiskul by 8 runs to end their Group C campaign with three wins and kept their quarterfinal hopes alive.
Raju 36 and Dhaneshwor 31 helped RNEF-MICA post 150 runs for 7 wickets before YAC ended their chase at 142/7 despite Birjit’s fighting 52 off 53 balls.
For YAC, Ramesh 2/20 and James 2/52 shared four wickets before Dinesh 2/36 and Jagu 2/18 led the RNEF-MICA bowling attack.
