Retd CRPF officer to fight election

IMPHAL, Mar 1: A retired CRPF officer has decided to join electoral politics and fight from Thangmeiband Assembly seat in the next State Assembly election which is due in 2027.
A one-day political conference was held today at the residence of Yengkhom Sanjeev at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai under the aegis of the Development Organisation Thangmeiband (DORTH).
Notably, retired CRPF officer Yengkhom Sanjeev is the president of DORTH.
A large number of people including elders and distinguished personalities from different wards of Thangmeiband AC attended the political conference.
Speaking at the gathering, Yengkhom Sanjeev said that a large number of educated youth remain unemployed and have been leading a frustrated life across the State including Thangmeiband AC.
Saying that the people of Thangmeiband AC have been sleeping for the last 15 years, he asked the people how long they will go on sleeping.
Sanjeep urged the people not to exchange their votes with the mere 5 Kg of rice distributed in a month.
Questioning how much development works have been done by the representative of Thangmeiband AC, the retired CRPF officer asserted that impressive speeches and rhetoric are not enough without action.
He added that Manipur landed into chaos and anarchy because of the failure of elected representatives to discharge their duties with a sense of responsibility.
Yengkhom Sanjeev said that he took voluntary retirement and decided to fight elections with a commitment to bring back Thangmeiband AC and Manipur on the path of development.
